Davyhulme Water Treatment Works

As part of their Odour Control Scheme implementation at the Davyhulme Waste Water Treatment Works, United Utilities needed a highly chemically resistant containment bund lining, but due to the tight programme of the works, this had to be applied within days of striking the formwork from the ‘green’ concrete.

Their Framework Design and Management Contractor contacted the Specialist Contractors Construction Techniques, because Construction Techniques had already solved a similar requirement on a similar project at Sandon Dock Waste Water Treatment Works and so the same team was extremely capable of providing the right solution for this new project at the Davyhulme site.

Construction Techniques once again proposed and installed Sikagard 720 EpoCem, a thin layer epoxy cementitious render that acts as a TMB (Temporary Moisture Barrier) and levelling coat, allowing the chemically resistant and impervious, epoxy resin based, protective coating system Sikagard 63, to be securely and safely applied directly to the EpoCem layer onto the ‘green’ concrete the very next day.
